Your credit will probaby take almost a year to repair. Start with getting copies of your credit report from all 3 agencies.

Dispute (in writing) everything that’s incorrect or incomplete.

Request proof of debt for all other debts. Send certified-mail w/ return receipt. If not received in 90 days (per law), send 2nd notice, then 3rd after 90 days. If no response, send copies of letters and copies of return receipts to the 3 credit reporting agencies. They have to removce them.

Set up payment arrangements for any companies who actualy vaidate your debts. Vaola…better credit. Not perfect…but better.

Since you lost your job, rather than quit, you should be able to collect unemployment. Contact your local unemployment office. Try to apply for about 5-10 jobs per day. This should take more than an hour out of your day, if you apply online.

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy.

We were in a similar situation when I got pregnant. I was 4 mo. pregnant and my husband lost his job. I was still working but we got behind on bills etc. He got unemployment so try that, it helped us a lot. As far as fixing our credit, it’s still shaky and at times we still struggle and get behind. Positively speaking, we started thinking about what we had instead of what we didn’t have. We have a place to live, food on the table, a healthy baby etc. Think about your necessities first then worry with the rest. Try to get WIC/Medicaid if you haven’t already to help cover your medical expenses for the baby and so you can try and stay healthy. Continue to apply for jobs too. It’ll be harder b/c you’re pregnant but hang in there, have faith and I promise it’ll all work out in the end…everyone told me that and I didn’t believe them, but it will! :)
